Out of all the phobias, agoraphobia is truly one of the most serious. The comes from an irrational fear of unfamiliar or potentially uncomfortable situations, and can grow to the point where a sufferer only feels safe inside their home. If you struggle with agoraphobia, you should not let this condition rule your life. You can understand this phobia and find out how to beat it by using hypnotherapy.
The word agoraphobia means "fear of the marketplace," but people may feel anxious in any setting where there is a crowd. These settings are typically public areas or new areas outside of home. Sufferers may fear being in airplanes, lines, shopping centers, restaurants, or any scenario where they might not feel completely safe.
People with agoraphobia are scared of having nervous feelings or panic attacks in a situation where it might be difficult or impossible for them to leave. People with agoraphobia usually lead happy and typical lives in the places where they feel comfortable, even having guests and holding a job from the safety of their own homes. Unfortunately, the phobia can be so extreme that many times sufferers will only feel secure in the most confined areas. One recently publicized case involved a woman whose phobia was so serious that she didn't come out of her bathroom for several years, suffering several negative health effects as a result.
Agoraphobia often arises from other panic disorders and phobias. For instance, sufferers of social phobia may have agoraphobia also because they are scared of having to interact with other people. It may also stem from traumatic occurrences such as having an accident far from home. War veterans frequently develop the condition along with post-traumatic stress disorder. It can affect both women and men, although it is thought that agoraphobia occurs more frequently in women.
People suffering from agoraphobia might feel that they risk shaming themselves if they go out and have an anxiety attack. It can be humiliating for a phobia sufferer to have symptoms such as sweating, shaking, or nervous breakdowns and lose their self-control.
Agoraphobia is frequently treated with counseling or anti-anxiety medication. However, it can be particularly challenging to treat because sufferers may also have other anxiety disorders and root causes for their anxieties.
The reason why people with phobias can't seem to control their fears is because their emotions are based in the unconscious level. No amount of conscious effort or willpower is entirely sufficient to control a fear that comes from this level within the mind.
The techniques found in Ericksonian hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) are effective on phobias because they operate deep within the unconscious mind. Hypnosis is an ideal treatment option because it is safe and non-invasive, with no unhealthy side effects.
There are Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP programs available on CD that are remarkable because they can cure any phobia, or even multiple phobias if needed. It isn't necessary to use a program that deals specifically with each different phobia. A good program will work on the thought process that causes any phobia. This makes this sort of program ideal for many sufferers of agoraphobia.
In addition, a good multi-session program will provide a variety of techniques, which will make the program work for nearly every user. Using a step-by-step process, people can beat their fears with relative ease.
Achieving a relaxed state is the first step in the hypnotherapy phobia program. As a type of therapy, hypnosis has been used for years for tension-relief, letting even the biggest worriers feel rested and relaxed. Once a person feels free of anxiety, NLP techniques extinguish a phobia by changing the single thought process that is responsible for it.
Ericksonian hypnotherapy is an innovative type of hypnosis that utilizes suggestions hidden in a conversation, metaphor, or story to cure fears. Ericksonian hypnotherapy is more effective than conventional hypnosis because the unconscious mind finds it more difficult to resist suggestions that are not obvious, than direct suggestions. Instead of direct suggestions, which merely "tell" your unconscious what to do, indirect suggestions that are found in interesting stories and metaphors will guide the unconscious into a positive, worry-free thought process.
Those who are scared to step outside their door can regain their freedom and confidence by using hypnosis therapy. A program with Ericksonian hypnotherapy techniques and NLP techniques is ideal for people who want to vanquish their fears for good. Hypnotherapies produce a tremendous benefit for sufferers of agoraphobia and other phobias.
