Weight loss is a reduction of fat, bodily fluids, lean mass and adipose tissues leading to a reduction of your body weight. Appetite is a desire to drink and eat for pleasure. It significantly differs from hunger, because hunger is only felt when your body does not have sufficient reserves to sustain itself and hence calls for nourishment.
Appetite is frequently confused with hunger, but they are 2 different feelings with different causes. Hunger is a physical indication that your body is in need of nourishment and it would be unhealthy to try to fight it. Appetite, though, is mainly caused by psychological factors and doesn’t respond to any physiological need.
Indeed, stimulating the mouth is a source of comfort and pleasure, which explains why some people like to chew gum for example. It is the same reason that might explain why people enjoy having a cigarette in their mouths, or why people can have the impression of being hungry without actually needing food.
This comfort and pleasure may be unconsciously sought after by the brain when facing a stressful situation, which is the reason why stress and anxiety can frequently create the urge to eat. Our mind also often unconsciously creates associations between two actions, so that each time you do any of these actions your mind creates the urge to do the other simultaneously. Thus you can feel the urge to eat when around friends, sitting at a table or watching television. Weight gain is also a usual side effect of many drugs.
Even a small appetite problem might be severely disabling and a potential danger for your health. Not only can it make you more and more self-conscious about your body and appearance, but it may also threaten your health on the long term. Excessive appetite can be responsible for respiratory difficulties, obesity, high blood pressure, musculoskeletal problems, and cholesterol along with life threatening conditions like cancer, diabetes and gallbladder disease.
Being able to control your appetite would allow you to easily get back in shape and get significantly healthier. You wouldn’t have to worry constantly about keeping a diet anymore, nor about the nutritional value of your food. You will be able to choose what you eat, when you decide to.
A lot of different drugs pretending to help ensure control over appetite or lose weight have been offered on the market over the last few years. Most of these miracle pills will at best only have a placebo effect. Others have had more significant results but often also had to be taken out of the market because of their dangerous side effects. A lot of these drugs have a chemical structure analogous to that of amphetamines and have similar dangers. There are nonetheless natural ways of achieving weight loss that do not present any undesirable side effects, like weight loss through hypnotherapy.
Most people will tell you that only exercise or diet are effective in order to lose weight.
